solves the problem of a dark hallway in a bungalow ...
Mr and Mrs Gill love their home. However,
there was one problem. The L-shaped hall that runs through
the centre of their home was very dark. Part of the problem
was owing to the lack of windows, but it was also owing
to the dark exposed brickwork that had been used in the
main hall area and that absorbed much of the light coming
in through the glazed front door. Even after fitting glass
doors to some of the rooms that led on to the hall in order
to "borrow" some of their natural daylight, and
experimenting with various electrical products that professed
to emulate daylight, the hall still didn't feel quite right.
The Gills briefly considered fitting traditional
skylights in their hall, but knew this would be expensive
and messy. However, a chance remark by a builder friend
of theirs resulted in them considering a cheaper, simpler,
cleaner and quicker-to-install alternative - Solatube Daylight
Systems.
"The Solatubes have transformed the
whole bungalow by flooding the halls with natural daylight.
The installation process was very quick and easy too. The
builder simply made three holes in the ceilings, fitted
the domes on the roofs, assembled the parts and it was all
done."
