The Solatube Brighten Up® Series
The Brighten Up® Series is designed for specification into smaller working areas and homes. There are two sizes in this range:

The Solatube 160DS (250mm diameter)
The Solatube 290DS (350mm diameter)

The Brighten® Up Series sets performance standards never seen before and feature our new, patented Raybender® 3000 Technology and LightTracker™ Reflector to deliver an Effective Daylight Capture Surface (EDCS) significantly higher than our previous Solatube models and nearly double the EDCS of 'similar' products.

All Solatube reflective surfaces use 99.7% Spectralight® Infinity for optimum performance - the chart (at the bottom of this page) shows how light output can be significantly reduced in systems that use less reflective materials.

Subject to application, the 160DS (250mm diameter) illuminates an area up to 13 square metres, the 290DS (350mm diameter) will illuminate an area up to 22 square metres. For more expansive spaces, multiple units may be installed. Ideal for residential applications such as kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, stairwells, utility rooms, living areas, or in larger, open workspaces such as corridors, offices, consultancy rooms, store rooms and washrooms.

Every time light bounces off a surface a certain amount of light is inevitably absorbed by that surface - how much is absorbed depends on the reflective properties of the surface. The comparison table below shows how Solatube's 99.7% reflective Spectralight® Infinity tubing plays a critical role in achieving its unrivalled performance.

Even small differences in reflective values will make a significant difference to the amount of light that is finally delivered. For example, the difference between 99.7% and 98% doesn't sound that great, but when you check the percentage of light remaining after just 20 bounces, you can see that Spectralight® Infinity delivers almost 30% more light than a 98% reflective material.
